Modifying your Process Map in LucidChart

In this article, we will show you how to update a LucidChart diagram in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Open your diagram in the Lucidchart editor. You can access your diagrams from the dashboard or the Lucidchart app in your preferred platform (such as Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, or Slack).

Step 2: Make the changes you want to your diagram. You can add, delete, move, resize, or format any shapes, lines, text, or images on your canvas. You can also use the toolbar to access advanced features such as layers, themes, comments, and revision history.

Some key points to consider:

  1. Make it effortless: One of the biggest hurdles to effective documentation is that it is time-consuming and tedious to create. And too often, people create documentation simply because they’re “supposed” to. This leads to poor documentation and frustrated team members. But documentation should not be a task after you’ve already done the work. Instead, documentation should be an ongoing process where you “show your work” as you go.
  2. Share it: If a document exists, but no one can read it, does it make an impact? When you take time to create documentation, make sure people can access it later. Otherwise, your efforts are wasted, and your team is left without the information they need.
  3. Leverage templates: Even documenting as you go can be time-consuming if you’re always working from scratch. Make it easy by using templates.

Step 3: Save your changes. Lucidchart automatically saves your work as you edit, but you can also manually save your diagram by clicking on the save icon in the top left corner of the editor.

Step 4: Share your updated diagram with others. You can export your diagram as an image, PDF, or other file format by clicking on the editor's download icon in the top right corner. You can also share your diagram online by generating a shareable link or embedding it on a web page.
