🎥 Screen Recording a Carrier Walkthrough (Quote Fetching Flow)

Use this guide to record a complete carrier walkthrough (login → quoting → final result) so our team can see exactly what you’re seeing and troubleshoot faster.

✅ Before you start

➡️ Use a supported browser: Chrome, Edge, or Safari (Mac)
➡️ Have carrier credentials ready: username + password
➡️ Protect sensitive information: close unrelated tabs/apps and avoid displaying non-essential personal data
➡️ Keep the window clean: only record what’s relevant to the carrier flow


🎯 What the recording must include

Please capture the full end-to-end flow, including:

➡️ Login to the carrier website
➡️ Navigation to the quoting area
➡️ The entire quote flow (every step you normally take)
➡️ Any errors, delays, unexpected screens, or unusual behavior
➡️ The final outcome (success, failure, or error message)

✅ Tip: If an error appears, pause on it for 3–5 seconds so it’s readable.


🪟 Windows (PC)

Option A (recommended): Xbox Game Bar (built-in)

  1. Open the carrier website in your browser

  2. Press Windows + G to open Xbox Game Bar

  3. In the Capture controls:

    • Click Record, or

    • Press Windows + Alt + R to start recording

  4. Walk through the entire carrier flow (login → quote steps → result)

  5. Stop recording:

    • Click Stop, or

    • Press Windows + Alt + R again

➡️ Your recording is typically saved as an MP4 in your Videos/Captures folder.

Option B: If Game Bar isn’t available

➡️ Use any screen recorder you’re comfortable with—just make sure it captures:

  • The full browser window

  • The entire workflow

  • The final result / error


🍎 Mac (macOS)

  1. Open the carrier website in your browser

  2. Press Command (⌘) + Shift + 5

  3. Choose:

    • Record Entire Screen, or

    • Record Selected Portion (recommended—select just the browser area)

  4. Click Record

  5. Complete the full carrier flow (login → quote steps → result)

  6. Click Stop in the top menu bar

➡️ Your recording is typically saved as a MOV (often to your Desktop by default).


🔎 Quick check before you share

Before sending, confirm:

✅ The video shows the full start-to-finish flow
✅ The issue is clearly visible
✅ Any error messages are readable
✅ No unnecessary sensitive information is shown


📤 Share the video with support

➡️ Upload the file to your preferred secure file-sharing method (company-approved storage is best)
➡️ Create a view-only share option
➡️ Send the video (or share access) to our support team along with:

  • Carrier name

  • What you expected to happen

  • What actually happened

  • Timestamp in the video where the issue occurs (example: “0:42”)

  • Any error text (copy/paste if possible)


💡 Extra tips that save time

➡️ Move your cursor slowly so steps are easy to follow
➡️ Narrate out loud (optional): “I’m clicking X; I expect Y”
➡️ Keep it focused: one carrier flow per video when possible
➡️ If the issue is intermittent, record one successful attempt and one failing attempt (separate videos preferred)
